How do you add fonts to Cricut Design Space?

I don’t believe you have to do anything special for the fonts to appear within Cricut design space. I install the fonts directing to my computer and the fonts should populate within the design space program. If they don’t right away, you can close the program and reopen it again.

There are a ton of free sites that you can grab fonts from. If you plan on making things to sell, make sure you find “commercial use” fonts. “Personal Use” would be only for you (not to be used in an end project to sell).

You can find GREAT commercial use fonts on Font Bundles . There is a new free font of the week is presented every Wednesday so make sure you check back often.

These instructions will get a font working on a windows computer:

  1. Download the font file to your computer. (Most likely it will get put in a folder called “Downloads.”)

  2. If you’ve received a “zip” file (the icon is of a folder with a zipper on it), the contents are compressed, and need to be uncompressed. Right-click on that file and select “Extract All.” The computer will ask where you want to put the extracted contents, but again, it usually defaults to your “Downloads” folder

  3. Once extracted, everything will be in a regular folder. Go in, find the file that ends in “.otf” or is called the “OpenType font file”. Right-click on that file and select “Install.”

  4. You’re done! The font will be installed on your computer, and can be used in all programs on that computer. (If you had any design program open while installing a font, you may need to close those programs and then re-open them to load in your new fonts.)

Also Mac:

  1. Download the font file to your computer. It will download to your Downloads folder. You can find this download folder in Finder.

  2. If you’ve received a “zip” file, the contents are compressed, and need to be uncompressed. Simply double click the zipped file to unzip.

  3. Once extracted, everything will be in a regular folder. Please open the FontBook application on your computer. Next, select all of the font files you wish to install and drag and drop them into the font list - in FontBook (middle column).

  4. You’re done! The font will be installed on your computer, and can be used in all programs on that computer. (If you had any design program open while installing a font, you may need to close those programs and then re-open them to load in your new fonts.)

I recommend Anyfont for fonts on iPad- https://designbundles.net/design-school/how-to-use-anyfont-to-add-fonts-to-an-iphone-or-ios-device

You typically have to close out Design Space and open it back up to see a newly installed font. So try that if it’s not showing it up right away!
