What should I buy alongside a Cricut? What equipment will I need?

If you just purchased a Cricut the essentials that you will need are the following:

  1. Cutting mats

12" x 12" mat and/or 12" x 24" mat - this depends if you want to make smaller or larger projects. Also keep in mind they are colored based on what your need is.

Light Grip – Blue Mat - ideal for lightweight materials such as printer paper, light cardstock, and vinyl.

Standard Grip – Green Mat - For medium weight material such as texture paper, cardstock, vinyl, bonded fabric.

StrongGrip – Purple Mat - Heavy weight materials such as leather, wood, thick cardstock, poster board.

FabricGrip – Pink Mat - Bonded fabric

  1. Essential tool kit - this contains weeding and spatula/scraper tool.

  2. Your preference for cutting blade:

  • Fine Point blade – Golden/Silver
  • Deep Point blade – Black
  • Bonded Fabric blade – Pink
  • Rotary blade – only works with the Cricut Maker – Silver
  • Knife blade – only works with the Cricut Maker – Silver
  • Quick Swap Perforation blade – only works with the Cricut Maker – Silver
  • Quick Swap Wavy blade – only works with the Cricut Maker – Silver
  • Quick Swap Debossing tip – only works with the Cricut Maker – Silver
