A photo of a red-tailed hawk (Buteo jamaicensis) with their mouth open, perched tensely on a rooftop, against a vivid blue sky. This was another photo I got while out on a walk - and this one was quite an adventure! There were actually two hawks hanging around the roofs of our little suburban neighborhood, and they were unhappy with one another. You can tell that the bird in this photo is rather upset from their tense posture and open beak. It was the first time I got to hear a hawk's cry in person, too! You know that sound they always play for eagles in movies, that long "skreee-awwww" call? That's actually these guys.
