Yara was an indigenous Yaracuyana princess who was born in a tribe a long time ago, legend has it that when she was born she had green eyes and for the shaman of the tribe this was a bad omen. He prophesied that that girl would bring many evils to her people, the cacique, that is, the chief of the tribe who was her father, to prevent Yara from being sacrificed, he hid her in a cave, guarded by several warrior Indians.
The goddess grew up and became a beautiful woman, full of love and kindness, as well as many virtues. One day due to strange circumstances in life, the Indians who were guarding it fell asleep and Yara took the opportunity to go out to explore the different places of that magical mountain alone.
He arrived at a well of deep and mysterious waters, he looked at himself on the surface, being impressed with the brightness of his green eyes, however, it was not his eyes that he saw, but the eyes of the Lord of the waters, who fell in love with she immediately and dragged her into the depths to make her his woman. Her father and the Indians who guarded her searched for her day and night until they found her, and they snatched her from that god of the waters, who enraged made rivers and streams overflow, flooding several towns in the region, which caused the death of many people.
Yara then spoke with her father to go with her husband and prevent further tragedies from happening, in this way she became the goddess of the waters, currently worshiped by many followers in Venezuela and other Latin American countries.
