Start off drawing with Sketch Brushes, use them on separate layer to create your sketch. After it is complete, decrease the layer's opacity. You might as well use Multiply blend mode to create a realistic pencil sketch effect that will be barely visible under watercolor layer that you will create later.

Inside Watercolor Studio for Procreate you will find large Stain Stamps collection made on a real paper using real paint and then transferred into the digital Procreate world. Use one or even more than one of them on the bottom background layer to make your artwork look even more realistic. By using Alpha Lock or Clipping Mask you can add colors inside the stains preserving textures and shapes.

You will also see Stamp Backgrounds brushes inside - these are abstract watercolor backgrounds that you can use to make any artwork look richer.

Once you've done working on your background, create a new layer and continue drawing with Main Brushes. Inside Watercolor Studio for Procreate will find different variations to choose from. There are wet edge brushes to mimic recognisable watercolor effects as well as sharp saturated ones that you can use to add accents and fine details.

Here is one more hint - use watercolor overlay technique by drawing new details on a new layer with Multiply blend mode. This way you will always have more creative options available by simply adjusting opacity at any time.

Definitely check out Splatters inside Watercolor Studio for Procreate to add realistic details and effects. You can use several Splatters at the final stages to add more life to your drawing. Five Blender brushes are perfect to achieve true watercolor effects. Use them to blur the sharp stain edges or make a smooth transition between the colors.

Optimal way to finalise your artwork is to add Seamless Paper Texture. Choose the one to your liking or even add more than one to achieve interesting effects. Add new layer, choose soft natural color and fill the illustration completely. Then use Multiply or Color Burn blend mode and adjust opacity to make the paper texture more or less visible. Experiment with blending modes and opacity to find even more interesting effects of your own.
