Hi, my name is Bertha. I am the designer behind DigiPaperArtDesign.
Currently based in Germany, I mainly create paper cut templates. Otherwise, I am busy drawing and painting digitally, mainly in watercolor style (My clipart shop here on Design Bundles is Personal Epiphany).

I started by designing SVGs and teaching myself to do hand-lettering. Those are very popular, and yet the reality is, I had a lot of challenges making new designs with the growing frivolous copyrights and trademarks listing.
It was not an easy decision to remake the contents of my shop, still, I was determined to find a niche where my talents can be useful without using mainly word phrases. And thus I switched to creating paper-cut templates.
Delicate and yet practical. Every time I create a new design, in the back of my mind I constantly remember, that the design should not only look beautiful on screen, it has to also look great without putting too much stress on the end-user.

Customers buy my designs for different purposes, some will use them as decals, which means the design has also to look amazing even in one color. Others might want to make wood craftings using them, thus my designs should not be too thin, and therefore they may look a bit bulky on screen. All these are part of my thinking process in my creative works.
Nature, and trends. Floral elements are timeless and always versatile, you can mainly find them in the majority of my creations. If I want to achieve a more cutesy design, nature still inspires me in the overall aesthetic of symmetry/asymmetry or balanced forms.
Back then, I thought the primary thing is to stand out and make something entirely unique in my distinguished individual style. Then I learn, it is more important to serve others. Trends and some research on search keywords will tell me (albeit imperfectly) what most people are looking for. I mostly create what is likely to be useful for customers, and not only blindly following my personal creative inspiration bursts.

I love my iPad, it’s the best gadget investment I’ve ever made so far. My designs always start here, hand-drawn in Procreate. Then I export them to PC, using Adobe Illustrator to clean up the path and make all the necessary file types.
Presentation is important as well, I’ve prepared a mockup template in Adobe Photoshop to give customers an eye-pleasing and almost realistic picture of how the end product will look like.
My best-selling item is my Bundle of 6 Floral Wreath Papercut Templates. Wreaths (specifically floral wreaths) are highly sought after.
Here’s a little self-experiment for you: try to combine a wreath with any subject (birthday wreath, winter wreath, beach wreath) and see whether people like them.

That the high-definition digital world doesn't truthfully represent the real 3D world.
I still adore extremely thin lines, detailed ornate swirls, and cursive/handwritten signature style fonts, they are charming indeed. Yet nowadays, I have to do necessary modifications to incorporate them in my designs so that the end product is practical enough for people who just started paper-crafting.
Stay hopeful always, while you strive to be useful. You will see an ebb and flow in your sales, regulations, and laws change, it will require a lot of hard work probably more than you can imagine, stay hopeful. Learn to keep sowing good seeds even if you cannot immediately reap the fruit of your work, stay hopeful.
While trying to make a living yourself, ask always how can your work benefit others. Most of us creators are aware that there’s more to achieve than mere financial gain, and we are right.
Thanks so much, Bertha, for taking part in the Design Bundles Seller Spotlight series. We loved learning more about you, your creative process, inspiration, and top tips. And a big thanks to our wonderful readers and designer community. Stay tuned for the next installment of the Seller Spotlight series.
