Before starting the drawing tutorial, get your supplies together. You can use any medium you have on hand, like pencils, markers, Procreate, Photoshop, etc., to draw and color in your succulents.

We are using Procreate, and if you are too, you can use these chalk Procreate brushes to draw the outlines and color in your succulents.

Step 1 - Draw Three Curved Leaves for the Center

Your first step in how to draw succulents is by starting your drawing from the center. Starting in the center helps you to keep with the circular shape of a succulent and evenly draw the same sized leaves.

Begin with drawing three small leaves curving around, then draw another three going around the first that is a bit bigger. This is your most central point in your succulent.

Step 2 - Add Three Leaves at a Time

With your succulent center drawn, you will continue adding three leaves at a time. As you start drawing away from the center, your succulent leaves will start to show the leaf shape.

Start drawing another two rows of three leaves going around the center that are bigger. These leaves will have more gaps and have a point in the middle of the leaf, like ours.

Step 3 - Fill Out Your Succulent

In this step on how to draw succulents, you are going to fill out your succulent by adding more rows of leaves. There is no specific number of leaves you need to add, so feel free to add as many as you need.

Start adding leaves to your succulent to fill in the spaces to round out your succulent shape more.

Step 4 - Color in Your Succulents

Succulents come in a variety of colors, from greens to purple and blue hues. There are also different ways you can color in your succulents.

You can add color to each leaf of your succulent using different colors or shades. Shading can also add more depth to your succulents, like how we added shading in Procreate to make the fun rainbow-colored succulent with depth that’s shown below.
