It is very simple. I recommend using Photoshop. You can use any graphic software which allows working in layers.

Take a clear shot of your pooch/subject. Make sure that you have right angle. It also helps to take photo at similar colour background.

Use lasso tool to cut out fragment of photograph, drag and mask off.
