THESE DESIGNS ARE FOR PRINT AND CUT -HOW TO MAKE
Step 1: Setting Up Your Design in Cricut Design Space
Open Cricut Design Space and create a new project. Import your design file by clicking on the "Upload" button and following the prompts to locate and import your design. You will want to upload the png image as complex for optimal print quality. There will be no need to remove the background, finally select the Print and Cut option.
Once imported, you can resize, position, and arrange multiple designs on your canvas as desired. This stage is perfect for adding text and names. For the 19mm diameter test tubes the image size should be- width 4.665 inches x height 6 inches. For other size test tubes please re-size your image accordingly
Step 2: Printing Your Design
After arranging your design on the canvas, it's time to print it. Click on the "Make It" button in Cricut Design Space, and a new window will open, displaying a preview of your project. Ensure that your printer is properly connected and loaded with the desired type of paper. Click on the "Send to Printer" button, select your printer, and adjust any print settings if necessary. Finally, click on "Print" to initiate the printing process. I usually leave bleed on for this. Please choose heavy card stock for this project, recommended 300gsm or above. Considering the weight of the card to be printed I recommend an inkjet printer for this.
Step 3: Preparing Your Printed Design for Cutting
Once your design is printed, it's time to prepare it for cutting with the Cricut machine. Take the printed sheet and place it on a Cricut cutting mat, ensuring it's aligned correctly. Smooth out any wrinkles or bubbles to ensure a precise cut.
Step 4: Loading the Mat and Cutting
With your printed design securely placed on the cutting mat, it's time to load it into the Cricut machine. Follow the instructions specific to your Cricut model for loading the mat properly. Once loaded, ensure that the machine recognizes the mat and design by aligning it with the machine's sensors or cameras if applicable. Once recognized, press the "Go" or "Cut" button on your Cricut machine, and it will start the cutting process, accurately following the cutting lines defined in your design.
Step 5: Removing Your Finished Design
Once the cutting process is complete, carefully remove the cutting mat from the Cricut machine. Gently peel away the excess material around your design, leaving only the desired cutouts. Take your time and be cautious not to damage or tear your design during this process. Once the excess material is removed, your beautifully printed and cut design is ready to be used in your project!
Step 6: Inserting the test tubes
Carefully prise back the cut inserts so they are facing outwards and ready to hold the test tube. Fill your test tube with bird seed or porridge oats and insert into the inserts. Please do not use glitter as it is harmful to wildlife.
