Sewing a Face Mask

A face mask is a protective covering that is worn over the nose and mouth to reduce the spread of respiratory droplets and protect the wearer from inhaling airborne particles. Face masks are commonly used in various settings to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases, including respiratory viruses like influenza and the common cold. They are also employed for protection against pollutants and other environmental hazards.

There are different types of face masks, including surgical masks, N95 respirators, and cloth masks. Surgical masks are typically loose-fitting and are designed to protect against large droplets, splashes, and sprays. N95 respirators provide a higher level of filtration efficiency and are designed to fit tightly to the face, offering protection against smaller airborne particles.

Face mask remained a basic and most important thing during the outbreak of COVID-19. I learned the sewing a mask during that time due to non-availability of the masks. It served me well as I made the masks with the clothes I had in my home that time. Here is the simple yet effect sewing pattern of a face mask.

Material and Accessories required

·        Fabric as per your choice. You can have one color or multicolor fabric or have more than one fabric for mixing different pieces.

·        Secondly a sewing machine.

·        Drafting Paper is must. However, you can use newspaper or any other used paper.

·        Threads, chalks, scissors, pins etc.

·        Elastic

·        Memory Foam or any other kind of Foam.
