About the ProductHi, my name is Marina and I am a vector illustrator from Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. There is a war in my country. I haven't left and continue to work in Ukraine. This project I wanted to do, first of all, to thank Ukrainian Military Forces for the opportunity to continue to draw flowers and live in my hometown. And also to benefit people who are in worse conditions than me with my illustrations. Also, I myself need money and help to survive this time of war.
I started drawing this project just as my country's army was repulsing the Russian army's attack on the capital city. I still wake up in the morning to the explosion of rockets. About once a week there comes a day when 60 to 90 missiles are sent at us. I made mockups for these illustrations during the hours when we had electricity because Russian missiles hit our infrastructure and I often can only work when there is light. You may have heard about Bucha and Irpen. These events, tragedy and fighting took place so close to my mom's house that she could see from her window the pillars of smoke from burning military equipment and houses. Mom had to move to the other side of town after one of the artillery shells hit an apartment building near her house. Mom and her apartment are fine now. I'm luckier than her, I live closer to the center of town and rockets just fly over the roof of my house. I can hear them whistling. And I often hear explosions. Yes, it's very, very scary, but I try not to overwhelm you with my emotions and feelings. In general I can talk about war for a long time, let me tell you about this project).
I wanted to create a product from the sales of which, half of the money from my royalties I want to send to the state trusted funds that support the army and people who were left homeless. I chose three charitable foundations, you can check them out online.
- Foundation Come Back Alive (Фонд Повернись Живим)
- Sergiy Prytula Charitable Foundation (Благодійний фонд Сергія Притули)
- Humanitarian Aid. Foundation founded by the National Bank of Ukraine (Гуманітарна допомога Національного Банку України)
- Why I chose them. The Retrieved to Living Foundation savelife.in.ua started out buying clothes, thermal imagers, quadcopters, and cars since 2014, but now they have developed to the point where they cooperate with the Ukrainian Intelligence Service and buy weapons for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Sergiy Pritula Foundation. Perhaps you've heard about how Ukrainians, ordinary citizens, raised money for Bayraktars in three days? This is the very foundation) It helps everyone in need and victims of war, but the main focus is to help the army.
The third fund with the simple name "Humanitarian Aid" was chosen by me, because my biggest fear right now is to remain homeless, without my computer for work and crippled. Because rockets and artillery of Russian troops often hit residential houses. That's why I want to help those with whom such misfortune happened.

I wanted to create a product in the colors of our flag and on the theme of my Ukraine, but I tried to make it in such a way that it would be interesting to people abroad as well. That's why I chose such non-obvious flowers for my culture, instead of Sunflowers or Cornflowers. Until the end of the war, I decided that I would only paint flowers, because it was my favorite thing to do, and every day could be my last. I enjoyed drawing these botanical illustrations.
