Plants are drawn without gradients, so the files weigh much less than they would weigh with gradients in such detail. Their main advantage is that the vector format has no scaling restractions. I draw my botanical illustrations by hand on a screen tablet, this allows me to draw the flowers as I would draw them on paper. I most often make references to the plants myself by photographing them in the Botanical Gardens of Kyiv or just in the city.
