Interview a Classmate - a Biography Writing Activity for Grades 4-6
This resource is the perfect icebreaker for the beginning of the year--for BIG kids! Your students will interview a peer and will work through the writing process to develop a 1-page (minimum) biography about their new friend. Host a reading club and pass these around for a (quiet) getting-to-know-you session for your class! This activity provides practice with so many skills -- social, writing, reading, and penmanship. There are three options for the interview questions -- you can use the provided questions (page 3), you can edit your own questions (page 4), or you can have your students come up with their own questions (page 5)!
Students will ask their questions, use the 4-square graphic organizer to develop their paragraph topics, write a rough draft, and finally, they will write their final draft.
