Card makers, let's hear it for shaker cards. There's all kinds of goodies out there that you can buy and use to create cute shaker cards. This printable design could require you to provide a shaker element of your own or you can use some kind of plastic or laminate sheet. We've got ya covered no matter which direction you choose to take this greeting card.
We've provided a simple ready-to-go printable where you print and fold and that's it. In the download are several printable 8x11 inch sheets in both png and jpg formats. We've given a background printable, a plain birdhouse element as well as a printable with the top layer of the three birds and hello greeting.
You can take this printable paper project to all kinds of levels. Follow our pictorial in the little gallery if you need some help or ideas. I wouldn't call this project super easy. Some craft no how would be helpful in regards to dimension and adhesives. We give suggestions throughout the tutorial.
I would advise not rushing through the project. If you don't have a cutting machine, as is my case, use small fussy cutting scissors. (After creating the project, I slightly changed the top layer design so it would be a little easier to cut.) Take a look through our tutorial before you get started. It'll help, promise.
If you decide to do the shaker style card outside of a printer you'll Need:
the printable sheets
various adhesives
scissors
plastic or some kind of clear laminate
bird seed (just a very little)
I'd say the two most difficult parts are the fussy cutting and getting enough dimension under your plastic so the seed can move around and not make your base of the card wavy. Don't forget to leave a little space to insert your seeds and then seal it off.
