Like Branches On A Tree SVG for Laser & Glowforge | Family Tree Sign Design
Thank you for choosing my design!
This design is based on my best selling cut file design.
The design needs to be cut using 2 sheets of material. Here is how I created my example:
I sanded and prestained the top of my sheet of 1/8" birchwood. I then applied 3M to the back of the wood so the pieces will attach to the backing.
You will cut all pieces except for the name (which you will type and engrave). You will ignore the tree on the backing side, that is just there for you to align the name. For the example name I used the font "Barnaby". However Times Roman is a good alternative.
After cutting my design (for approximately 16x9.66) it took me around 26 minutes with my Glowforge pro. I would not cut smaller than this size due to the possibility the lettering could break.
***I would NOT recommend cutting smaller than the above size due to the delicate nature of the words. If you cut smaller it will be more difficult to work with and the words can break apart. If you want a smaller design I would engrave the design.***
Once cut I left my wood on the crumb tray and took painters tape and applied over my letters. Keep the middle portion with the cutouts so you can use that as a way to align your design.
I removed the masking from the "frame". I then aligned my frame to the backing and carefully lined up. Once you apply using 3M you won't be able to reposition easily.
Insert your cut out insert to help line up your design.
I then remove the 3m tape from the tree and applied to the backing. Then I removed the 3M from each word one by one and applied.
Remove the cutout piece by simply flipping over.
This design took me around 15 minutes to apply the letters. But the result is well worth the time and effort!
Voila! You are done!
Please Note: You can use glue instead of 3M. I just find 3M to be faster and easier.
