Poems for Mom

These “Poems for Mom” pages will help your children write poetry while making a heart-warming present for their moms.

The first page is a teaching and brainstorming page. It describes what acrostic poems and haikus are and how to write them.

For the acrostic poem they will think of words that start with the letters in the phrase “My Mother”. For the haiku, they will write words that describe their mom.

On the last two pages, they will write their poems for their moms. They can decorate or color their pages when they are done writing.

As an extension activity, they can make their poems into a booklet or card for their moms for Mother’s Day or any day, for that matter.
