Product Description

Wow, paper lovers! You are going to love this project. I used some goodies from my Wizard World Collection to design this fairly easy, huge paper wizard hat. The layers are not full boxes. The bottom of each box is the top of the one underneath it. The last, large circle layer ya have to do on your own because it's 12x12 inches and most people do not have that large a printer. There are so many shades of brown in the leather look hat, that nearly any shade of brown card stock you choose will look great. The hat is 14 inches tall and around 7 inches at the biggest box.

Please note that I made most of the strips larger than what they need to be. Ya just have to snip off the excess. With my original design, they were mostly too small and it's much better to have too much than not enough in this case. Besides, the project is a bit flexible depending on the paper weight you use and exactly how you put your hat together, the size or length of each strip will differ. It's fairly simple putting it together. I recommend taking a deep breath, putting on some lovely music and take your time with it. Rushing through might not give you a great result.

I've made a few of these and they all look a bit different. The first one I put together, I lined up the top of the circle box perfectly to the edge of the strip. The other try, I let the top go just a bit over the edge. It looked really cool this way, too and made room for a error. There are several ways to put a round box together. Watch a couple of videos if you need more help. I used regular printer paper and I'm sure it would look so much better with heavier paper. I forgot to show ya how to do the tip. It's just a cone shape. Roll it gently until ya get just the shape ya want and adhere it.

It might look like a lot of ink, but it really isn't. Take a peek at the preview with the print outs and you'll see what I mean. I would use rigid paper. Especially if you want to put treats on each layer. I did my first hat with tape and the second with glue. I actually preferred the tape version. Though, I used great tape that I could gently peel off and reapply. Otherwise, it may not have turned out so great. I carefully lined up each tab with the edge of the strip (upside down) and taped it down and slowly went around the hat, adding the extra strips as needed and cutting off the excess. I didn't have a lot of white from the underside of the paper show up. Thank goodness! If ya do, simple ink over it with brown, gold or black ink or carefully fill in with a marker.
