How to Use Cricut Keyboard Shortcuts
Discover the many Keyboard Shortcuts you can use in Cricut Design Space.
Today we'll learn how to use Cricut Design Space keyboard shortcuts. These shortcuts make the creating process in Design Space so much easier. With just a tap of the key you can easily save your design or rearrange your items. If you are ready, let's dive into this quick and easy tutorial.
To demonstrate this process, I'll be using a cute dinosaur template on my Mac computer.
Please remember that my Command key is equivalent to the control key for PC users. This will help you move forward in the tutorial.
To begin, open Cricut Design Space and create a new project.
Step 1 - Select all and Copy and Paste
First, we'll duplicate our design. You can do this by tapping Cmd + A for Mac users or Ctrl + A for PC users. This will select everything on your canvas page, which is what we want to do today.
Next, tap Cmd + C to copy the design and then Cmd + V to paste the design onto the canvas screen.
Step 2 - Move, Delete, or Cut Objects
If you would like to move the duplicated layer, you can do this by clicking your keyboard arrows. Using the arrows will move the objects in increments of 0.01.
If you hold down the Shift key and then use your arrows, the object will move a full 1 inch.
To delete your object simply click the Delete key on the keyboard. You can use Cmd + X to cut your object when needed as well.
Step 3 - Rearranging your Layers
Rearranging your layers are just as quick and easy when using keyboard shortcuts. You only need to select the layer and then tap Cmd + [ on your keyboard. Using this shortcut will place the layer behind the one that is beneath it.
If you would like to move the layer forward, use the Cmd + ] shortcut.
If working with multiple layers and you want a quick way to send the front layer to the back, tap Cmd + Shift + [ on your keyboard. The item will be the last layer in the group. Bring it back to the front by holding down Cmd + Shift + ] and your item will quickly appear as the top layer.
Step 4 - Undo and Redo
Have you ever accidentally deleted something when creating? I definitely have, especially with fonts. Thankfully, Cricut will allow you to undo several steps by clicking Cmd + Z on your keyboard. Then, click back as many times as the history allows.
To easily redo your step just tap Cmd + Shift + Z on your keyboard.
Step 5 - Save Project
The one thing you want to remember after putting so much effort into a design is actually saving it. To quickly do this tap Cmd + S to start the save process.
Fill out the directed areas and click save.
Your project has been saved. Shortcuts make your projects more efficient and easier to manage. We hope this tutorial has helped you get to know your shortcuts.
