How to Draw Smoother Lines in Procreate

Discover how to draw smooth lines in Procreate with this quick tip.

Sometimes you may need to fine-tune your brushes to make them behave differently depending on how you want them to look.

For these examples, we are using a brush from the Procreate Lettering Brushes bundle. You can check out how to install them in the How to Install and Organize Procreate Brushes tutorial.

Choose the Procreate StreamLine setting

This setting helps you in smoothing out any wobbles or shakes in your lines. It uses the Procreate engine to automatically smooth them as you are drawing.

StreamLine is particularly important for inking and calligraphy. For a smoother and even result, turn it up, and for less smooth and natural linework, turn it down or off.

Adjusting the StreamLine

To adjust the StreamLine, tap on the brush you want to work with to enter Brush Studio and make sure the first option Stroke Path is selected. On the right side you should see the Stroke Properties, StreamLine is the second one from the top.

Here’s an example of how the same brush looks with StreamLine at 100% (Max)

And with StreamLine at 0% (None)

Procreate Streamline None

As you can see, the line is wobbly and not at all smooth.

Depending on what you are using your brush for, you may also want to adjust other attributes from the Stroke Properties or inside the Brush Studio Settings to fine-tune it and make it better fit your needs.
