Create a special gift for one of your family members with this layered family tree shadow box template!
This template is designed primarily for light boxes, and white cardstock is recommended for this. But creativity has no limits right? So try it without lights, colorful cardstock or make a unique card with it!
You can either cut it by hand or use our ready to cut files for Cricut, Silhouette, Brother, CNC laser and any other cutting machine.
And if you are a beginner, we included a simple tutorial that you can follow to assemble your 3D family tree shadow box in just a few minutes!

Size: 8x8'' (20x20 cm)
This family tree shadow box template includes (ZIP file*):
- 7 SVG files - for most cutting machines such as Cricut, Silhouette, CNC, laser, etc.
- 5 PDF files - (300 dpi) for printing and cutting by hand
- 5 PNG files - (transparent background, 300 dpi) for printing or cutting machines
- 1 DXF file - for Silhouette Studio Basic Edition
- 1 EPS file - for Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape and other vector softwares
- PDF instructions with detailed list of supplies you need.
*All of the files above are compressed into a single ZIP file. You will need to extract them before being able to access them.
What you need to create a light box:
- Cutting machine (or other cutting tool)
- 80 lb (200-220 gsm) white or colored cardstock
- Foam board
- Glue
- Shadow box frame 8x8'' (20x20 cm)
- Warm white or RGB 5v or 12v LED strip (recommended) or fairy lights
Hints & Tips:
- Size can be decreased or increased. However, when reducing, some details may become too tiny to be cut so we do not recommend scaling down too much.
- In order to avoid distortion, please keep the padlock locked while resizing it.
- Any materials supported by your machine (e.g. plywood, MDF, acrylic, plexiglas, etc.) can also be used so feel free to experiment!
- For light boxes, the light/shadow effect will vary depending on your material's transparency.
