Lisa has recently started creating designs for the Plus section of Design Bundles focusing on communities that are not often widely represented in the design world. Lisa not only focuses on underrepresented communities but also their allies to help bring about more unity, understanding, and inclusiveness in the design world.

Ever since I could hold a pencil, I’ve been drawing. When computers became popular in the late ’90s, I taught myself how to design and code websites. Although that skill set grew into a career for me at fortune 500 companies, I always wanted to work for myself, not limited to designing for corporate America.
About 10 years later, a bitter-sweet opportunity arose to do just that. I was 7 months pregnant with my daughter when the company I worked for closed its doors. Knowing I probably wouldn’t be hired at this stage, I decided to go after my dream of working for myself, this time focusing on graphic design. That was 12 years ago, and I have been a full-time graphic designer ever since.
I wake up each day EXCITED about what I can create and design. Mondays are not dreaded but awaited. Who wouldn’t want a “job” like that? Always do what you love!

In my shop - SVGsByLisa, my niche is SVG files for cutting machines. I also include PNG files, perfect for sublimation projects.
A couple of years ago, I bought a Cricut machine to make stickers to sell. I realized I really enjoyed designing the cut files, and there was actually a market for it. It’s amazing to see my designs on t-shirts, mugs, tumblers, stickers, and so many other creative projects!
Aesthetic. Coming from a corporate background, I had to focus on all the little details, including balance and proportions, to make sure it was professional and eye-pleasing. That doesn’t mean boring though, I have a unique array of styles from fun to farmhouse. I don’t limit my style and try to appeal to many different audiences.
Adobe Illustrator is my go-to tool when designing.

I typically wake up, have my morning protein shake, answer emails, do some trending research, check my daily stats/financials and then begin designing. On any given day, depending on my creative flow, I may create 2-6 designs.
I usually still have a good portion of my day to either relax, work out and spend time with my family. It’s a great life!
My best-selling item is Black Queen Nutrition Facts.

Create as many designs and target as many audiences as possible, do not focus on just one niche! Set a daily/weekly amount to design and stick to it. The more designs you have (as well as audiences), the more exposure you have, leading people to your shop. Quality counts! Make sure your designs are aesthetically pleasing, with a simple but eye-catching display. Lastly, SEO! Know what terms are trending and how to use and place them within your title and keywords.
Yes! I would love to be included in more bundles and deals. That’s my main goal right now - to create quality graphics/bundles to be featured in upcoming deals. It always feels like Christmas day when I’m invited to partake. :)
