Gradient Stroke Text Effect in Illustrator

1 – In Illustrator create a New Document and add some text and choose a font.

2 – Set the Fill and Stroke of your text to None.

3 – Select your text, open the “Appearance Panel” menu (top left menu button) and choose “Add New Fill”. Repeat this so you end up having two Fills in the “Appearance Panel”.


4 – Select the second fill in the “Appearance Panel” and go to Effect > Path > Offset Path and enter the size you want your stroke to be. (contorno en el second fill)


5 -  Change the Offset Fill to a gradient.

6 – This treatment lets you change your text settings. Double click on the Offset Path to modify your stroke.

7 – Now, let’s change the change the color of the gradient. You can play with it and even add some transparency by lowering the Opacity of some of the gradient colors.




8 – To change the Fill of your text choose the first fill in the “Appearance Panel” and do it there. Don’t forget to select your text first.
