Photo filters can create a vintage or grunge look as well as boost color and contrast. So for today’s tutorial, we will be using this image of a girl taking photos.
Pixascape can be accessed by clicking on the Plus Membership link at the top of the page. Then scroll down and click on Pixascape.
We will begin by quickly uploading our photo to Pixascape before applying a filter. When clicking on Pixascape, a new page will open where you can click on Upload. Locate your image and click to open.
The Photo Filters panel is located on the left side toolbar. It looks like four little squares and opens up a menu of filters, each with their own selection of options.
You can apply multiple photo filters to your image. It’s usually a good idea to start off with a base filter that applies an all over feel, then enhance the details. We started with a Vintage filter. In the Photo Filters panel, scroll down, if needed, until you see Vintage and click on it.
In the Vintage window pop up, you will have a huge selection of options to choose from. We chose 019 then adjusted the strength halfway.
We further adjusted the filter by clicking on the settings option in the top corner. It looks like two rows with slides. The Silhouette Amount was adjusted to 81 but you may want to play around with this until you get a desired result. When you have made your changes, click on the settings slides again to close out. Then adjust the strength again if needed and click Apply.
You could click Apply while in the settings menu but then you won't be able to adjust the strength.
Next, to add some warmth with more detail, we clicked on the Roadtrip Photo Filter and selected filter 004. We reduced the strength a bit then clicked on the settings option. Here the settings offer Dehaze and Gamma options. Adjust as needed.
Our settings were as follows: Dehaze 74, Gamma 59. The shadows were lifted a bit and more detail added to the girl.
Keep adding filters as you want and changing the settings to fit your needs. After selecting each filter, remember to click Apply to keep the changes. You need to do this before moving on to another filter else your changes will be lost.
Here is what our final image looks like after applying a few photo filters in Pixascape.
