A London-themed book nook shadow box featuring a King's Guardsman in his hut outside Buckingham Palace. I have added a corgi to the design as a nod to our late Queen. The shadow box is set in November, traditionally the month of remembrance in the UK.
I have added the poppy to the guard's hut as a symbol of remembrance. The poppy has five petals. This symbolises the five poppies that our monarch wears on remembrance day to honour the five services.
The Autumn leaves on the trees and those that have fallen are oak leaves. Oak being our national symbol of strength.
This shadow box is designed to have micro LED lights at the back so they shine through each of the layers. The will also make the street lamp in the shadow box appear to be lit.
Once complete, this shadow box will look great nestled on your bookshelf or on your mantlepiece,
The finished size is approximately 10” high by 4” wide by 3” deep.
The download files include templates to make the outer box, templates to create the correct size foam board spacers and the 14 shadow box layers themselves. The materials you will need to complete this project, in addition to these templates are:
- A3 (approx 12” x 16”) card for the outer box
- Various coloured papers/card for the 14 shadow box layers
- Foam board to create the spacers
- Micro LED ‘fairy’ lights
- Glue
