Additional settings in the Cricut Design Space app can help you create a better canvas atmosphere for each project you bring in. Canvas set up and measurements may depend on the type of projects you are doing.
To start, create a new project in Cricut Design Space app by clicking the blue rectangle box labeled New Project.
Once on the canvas page click the Settings icon on the lower toolbar. A small box will appear which will be your canvas settings.
Within the canvas settings you are able to change the canvas units. This will allow you to change Imperial units such as inches to metric units known as centimeters. Your upper and side ruler will change when you click the toggle button to turn this setting on and off.
Next, move the toggle button to the right to turn on canvas grids. This is useful when you are working with text or artwork that you manually change and resize.
You are able to control your smart guides within canvas settings. Smart guides help to align and position items according to other objects on your canvas when making manual changes. Most of the time there are only a few options where the object can snap into place and still line up. You will see yellow lines to show the position of each item.
In addition to your canvas settings Designs Space allows you to take photos. You can take photos directly from the Design Space App by using the camera icon on the lower toolbar.
It is a great way to set up the canvas to easily create a mockup of a shirt, phone, laptop, and much more. You can also use these items as size reference for your design.
