Making fonts thicker in Brother Scan and Cut Canvas

Posted on 23rd June 2017
This technique is great when you are trying to cut a very thin font your media and you need it just a touch thicker to cut smoothly.

1- Log into Brother Scan and Cut Canvas website.

2- Once logged in create a new project.

3- Go to the text options and select your font. When looking to make a font thicker, the font needs to be thin to start with. larger fonts can quickly loose their definition.

4- Type your text.

5- Select your text and then click on edit. In the window select the offset icon.

6- To create the offset on text we need to drop the spacing to the lowest the software will allow us. (1) if we have it too big we can loose definition on our text.

Next we need to untick the 'create an offset line only around the outer edge' (2) This is so the insides of the letters get and offset also.

The rest of the options leave as the defaults above and then click OK (3)

7-  You can now see the tiny offset that has been places around your original text.

8- When you look at it next to the original text you can see that the thickness has removed some of the tiny curves that the machine may not have been able to cut originally.

9-  You can also use the same technique with welded text.

10- Select your welded text and then click on edit then the offset icon.

11- Once again we need to adjust the offset settings. Change the spacing to the lowest setting (1)

Then untick the 'create an offset line only around the outer edge' (2) and finally click OK (3).

12- As you can see below the text, even tho it was pre-welded can also been thickened.
