We have chosen to use this desktop scrapbook template but we have tons of scrapbook templates for you to browse through. To fill our scrapbook template we will be using these photos of greek travel destinations.
Before we start with the tutorial, make certain that you have downloaded and unzipped your files.
Step 1 - Open the Scrapbook Template
Begin by opening DesignScape. Locate where your purchased files are stored then drag and drop the PSD file into DesignScape. You will see that every single element is on it’s own layer under the Layers Panel. This means you can alter everything on the template to suit your needs
Step 2 - Create a Clipping Mask
In order for us to place our images correctly, we will need to create a Clipping Mask.
Under the Layers Panel, click on one of the layers that contains the photo frame. In this case, that would be layers 9, 11, 13, 15. We started with layer 13. Once selected, drag and drop one of your images into DesignScape. It should now be placed above layer 13.
Make sure that the image layer you just added is still selected. Then, right click > Clipping Mask.
The image will now be clipped to only that photo frame. Even though it has been clipped, you can still move, scale and transform the image as you want. It will remain in the photo frame.
Carry on to add the rest of your images to the photo frames.
Step 3 - Edit Scrapbook Template Elements
Now that you have placed your photos, you can edit the scrapbook elements. To move elements around, click on the Move Tool left side toolbar that looks like an arrow. Make sure that you tick the box for Transform controls.
Under the Layers Panel select the element layer you want to move. Now click + drag the selected element to where you want. We adjusted the position of the one paintbrush and placed it on the left side. You can also easily flip or mirror the image.
The colors of elements can be edited by using a Color Overlay in the Layer Style Panel. Most of the layers already have an effect applied. This is shown as an eff icon to the right of the layer. Double click this to open the Layer Style Panel.
We changed a few colors to better match the images we added.
You can now save your project as a PSD or another format of your choice. Here is what our final project looks like.
