How to use templates in Adobe Illustrator

Ensure that your file has been downloaded and unzipped to use.

1- Open Ai. Click on file > New from Template.

2- A new window will appear and select your template file.(1) select New(2).

3- Depending on the template you are using, you may not have all the fonts uploaded into your pc. Some templates come with the relevant fonts for you to install before using the template. If this is not the case, you will get a new window appear on your screen. the creative cloud will try to fint the font you need and sync them to your program so you can use all the features in the template.

Make sure you have the sync from typekit (1) then sync files (2) and finally when it is synced select close (3).

4-Your Template will appear. Open the layers tab.

5- Once the layers tab is open, you can select the text and edit it (1).At this point you can change the size of the text and change the font too (2).

6- You can also select the background in the layers tab and change the colour.

7- To do the background colour change, select the background in the layers tab. then select the colour pallette (1) in the left toolbar. A new window will pop up. you can select the colour you would like (2) finally you can select OK(3).

8- You will now see the colour changed on your template and also in the layers tab.

The template used is from designbundles.net and the file is called Christmas invitation
