How to Batch Export Files in Illustrator
In this step by step tutorial you will learn how to batch exporting files in Adobe Illustrator!
Batch exporting in Illustrator can be donewith just few clicks. We will show you how to batch export multiple artboards to PNG, JPG, SVG and PDF. This process is a time saver when exporting logos for clients, cut files or many other scenarios. Trust me, if you’re an established designer or just starting out, this is an absolute must know tool!
In this tutorial we will be using the camper SVG bundle by Black Ink SVGs. There are tons of great camping SVGs on Design Bundles to check out.
Step 1 - Set up your artboards
Firstly, you need to ensure each of your designs are set up on their individual artboards if not already. Start by selecting your Artboard tool from your left toolbar. This will highlight any existing boards.
Now, select your individual designs. Providing your designs have been united using the Pathfinder tool, your artboard will appear containing your whole design. We have a great tutorial on how to use the Pathfinder tool if you need further help.
Step 2 - Export your files
Next, we want to export the files. Select File > Export > Export for Screens.
This menu will display all your graphics within each artboard. You can rename these artboards by left clicking ‘Artboard 2’ for example. The artboard names will also be the file names when you export.
Select your file
On the right hand side you have various export options. For example, you can choose to export all or a range of artboards.
You can select the folder you want to export to. Click on the file icon and create or find the folder, then select Choose. You can also select to open the location of the files once exported.
Select your file formats
You can now choose the file formats. The chosen formats will always stay in this section. The process is made even quicker when you come to use this tool again in the future.
Select Add Scale to create a new format. This will add a new row into your formats section.
Select the format button to reveal a dropdown menu with various options. Then, select your chosen format.
Next, select your scale. You can choose to export at a 1x, 2x the size and so on. You also have the option of width, height and resolution. For JPG and PNG format, it’s more than likely going to be the resolution that’s important. Select resolution and can change it to 300ppi, which is a high quality resolution.
The suffix box is where you can add to the file name once it has been exported. You could add 300ppi in here as a reminder of the resolution.
When you are happy with all the settings and formats, select Export Artboard.
As easy as that, your various artboards have now exported in all your preset file formats!
