In this tutorial you'll learn how to import AI and EPS files to Silhouette Studio. Business Edition is required for this. To get started, open Silhouette Studio.
Locate the file then press OK.
Your EPS file will appear on your design space. We have uploadeda unicorn set from Design Bundles.
At this point you can go ahead and create a print and cut file. Select the page set up panel and adjust your paper size and then select the registration marks.
Resize your EPS file to fit your page.
Click on the send option. You will now go to the cut screen. You can see the cut lines. At this point, depending on the EPS file and the amount of cut lines, you can cut your design.
If there are too many cut lines you may want to create your own. While still in the cut screen click on the no cut option. This will turn off the current cut lines.
Go back into design space and trace your images. This tutorial will show you how to trace images in Silhouette Studio.
If the new cut lines are still not quite right you can create an offset to help. Simply select the offset option in the toolbar to bring up the offset panel. then click on offset. There is a default of 2mm but you can adjust that. Once you have your offset, you can delete the original traces cut lines.
Go back to the send screen. you can now see that your images from your EPS file are simpler to cut. Print and then cut your design.
Select your AI file. We are using a file froman illustration pack available on Design Bundles.
With Ai files you will get a Ai import screen. Here you need to ensure you are importing as a vector and keep your images grouped. Then click on import.
Your AI images will now appear in your design space. Adjust your images to fit your page.
Go to the send page. check the cut lines if you are happy you can print and cut or just cut. If the lines are not, follow the previous steps to turn off the cut lines and create new ones.
