How to Evenly Space Objects in Canva

Learn how to evenly space objects in Canva by using the Tidy Up feature.

Alignment is an important aspect of design. It helps you organize your elements, and improve the readability of your layouts. But evenly spacing your design elements could be a challenge. Lining up or spacing manually can cause some slight inaccuracies. In this tutorial, you will learn how to evenly space objects in Canva.

We’re going to show you how to use Canva’s Tidy Up feature. This evenly spaces objects in your design in just one click.

For today's design, we're going to make a Cocktail Menu. We are using a watercolor cocktail clipart from Design Bundles and a luxury font called Sweet Madelyn from Font Bundles.

The clipart and font have already been uploaded to Canva and added to our design canvas. You can see that our elements are still all over the place. Now it's time to line them up perfectly.

Step 1 - Select all of your Elements

There are two ways you can select the elements. First, click and drag your mouse over the elements you want selected. This works well when the elements are close to each other.

The second option is to hold down the shift key, then click on each element to select it. This is useful for selecting specific elements in a group or those placed further apart.

Step 2 - Align your Elements

To perfectly align your elements, click position in the toolbar. Then, at the bottom under Space evenly, you have the option to just select vertically or Horizontally. If you want them aligned on all axes, choose Tidy up.

As quick as that, your elements will align perfectly, both vertically and horizontally.

Along with graphic elements, you can also align images, shapes, icons, and even text. To align our text, follow the same steps above. Select the text you want to align> Position > Tidy up.
